Current Beauty Favorites: March

Hello guys!

It has been such a crazy week for me! Between getting ready for the STAAR test, my hometown being hit by a tornado (more about that later), and our automatic garage door breaking, and a ton of meetings at work, I just feel so overwhelmed.

I thought I would share with you all some new products that I have been testing out and loving!

First, let's start of with this great blush.

The Tarte Amazonion Clay 12-Hour Blush in Fearless:

This blush just screams spring. I hate waking up at 5:30 in the morning. Putting this blush puts me in a good mood. It just brings the color to my cheeks and it just makes me look awake and springy. It applies flawlessly, and I just love this color for my skin tone. Warning: apply with a light hand, the color applies very easily.

Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray:

This product smells like the beach, and living in Central Texas, this makes me happy. I have pretty short hair, so anytime I curl it or attempt "waves" I end up looking like Shirley Temple. This product allows for me to have cute beachy hair without looking ridiculous.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Blush & Bronzing Powder, Blushed/Bronzed St. Lucia

Everyone under the sun has said that this is a dupe for NARS Orgasm and Laguna (i disagree that the blushes are dupes for one another, but they are similar). This is a really great alternative if you want to get your hands on trying out bronzer. I have always shyed away from braziers, because i felt like I would look very dirty wearing one. However, I found a really great brush (it was in a benefit blush box) and once i blend out the bronzer, it actually looks good! I am very pleased with this product.

EOS Lip Balm
I have so many of these, it is ridiculous. I am currently using Summer Fruit the most, however I also have Sweet Mint at my desk at work, and I love both of those flavors equally. (Sweet mint is the blue one, and Summer Fruit is the red one.) These are so fun to apply, they smell great, and they feel great on the lips. I don't like using these when I am sick however, I feel like i need a ton of moisture when I am ill. These are great for everyday, though!

Staying Healthy During Testing Week

For all my fellow Texas Teachers, STAAR testing is about to begin next week. I know that at my school, the administration tries to really show their appreciation for their teachers, because they know how stressful testing is, and how not-fun it is to pace around a room for 4+ hours while your students take a scary test.  How do they show their appreciation? Through food: Delicious chips and queso, donuts, potluck lunches, and tons of candy.

None of these foods make your body feel fantastic. In fact, I feel like they make me feel more sluggish and more like crawling back into bed. Here is how I am trying to combat the school snacks during a stressful time:

  • Bring a healthy snack. I adore Cuties (you know, the tiny mandarins that are very easy to peel?). I will bring 4 of these to work to snack on if I get any cravings. I also like to bring any type of fruit (bananas and apples are easy to grab and go, however apples are a bit more difficult to eat as an easy snack.)
  • Plan time to be outdoors. It has been so nice here lately. Today it was 88 degrees F! I make sure that 3 days out of the work week, I make sure that I go outside. I will go for a long walk around the neighborhood, or go to the school nearby and swing. It is so nice to just enjoy the sunshine, and it really helps boost endorphins when you are out moving.
  • Don't take a trip to the teachers' lounge! There are so many temptations in the teachers' lounge... don't do it! You do not need that donut.
  • Drink plenty of water. Another danger of the teachers' lounge is the soda machine. I have stopped drinking soda since December, and I surprisingly haven't had to deal with many cravings anymore. However, I know that last year, this was the time where I started drinking soda religiously, and even was having Red Bulls on the regular. I bring a water bottle and keep filling it up in order to stay hydrated. If I'm feeling like I want some flavor, I will pour in some water enhancer (usually pink lemonade).
Let me know if you have any other tips for staying healthy during stressful times!

Date Night Tips

My husband and I have been dating since 2010, and we were married August 2014.

We are still a newlywed couple, however we try to go on a nice, planned out date once a month so we can really enjoy our time together. Here are some date night tips to ensure you have a great night:

1. Turn off the electronics.
Nothing is more unromantic then staring at your boyfriend or husband and he is staring at his phone. Or worse, you are staring at your phone. Turn your phones into airplane mode, and leave them put away. Cell phones only get in the way of enjoying one another's company. Now of course, you might have to get it out to look up and address or get directions, and that's okay, but texts, Facebook, twitter, and instagram can wait.

2. Enjoy each others company.
Ask questions to your significant other about their opinions on things. I love asking my husband what he thinks the future will be like, or what type of improvements will be made to our society in the future. We also like talking about planning future trips, our goals, and just funny things that have happened to us at work, or in life. Find out things that he likes. You never know, his tastes might have changed from your first date.

3. Be spontaneous.
If you see something on your date that looks like it could be fun, don't feel like you can't change your plans! Be spontaneous. Take a random,  unplanned weekend trip to a nearby city. Go and do things unexpectedly. It's so important to keep things interesting.

What do you and your significant other do during date night? Do you have any date right traditions? Comment below and let me know!

Friday Five: Skin Care

Hello lovelies!

Every Friday, I am going to post five products that I am currently loving. This week, I have been absolutely loving a ton of skin care products, so, let's get into it!

(Side note- I apologize for the lousy quality of the photos, I don't have great lighting in the bathroom.)

1. Pond's Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream: I bought a travel size of this at Target over a month ago, and I put it on my face every single morning. I love that my face does not feel sticky after putting it on, and that it feels like it really sinks in to the skin. When I run out of this tub, I am definitely going to purchase the full size of this product.
2. Up & Up Cleansing Towelettes: I buy the Up&Up brand of makeup wipes constantly, and I rotate through the green, pink, and blue packages. I like these wipes, however I feel that they are a lot more dry than other makeup wipes that I have used before. I feel like I really have to scrub my face with the green pack, which I feel with the blue ones I did not have to do that nearly as much. This is interesting because the green ones are supposed to be for sensitive skin.
3. Boscia Makeup Breakup Cleansing Oil: oh my goodness, this is my one true love. You simply apply it to a dry face, and it breaks up all of your makeup- even hard to remove lip stains and waterproof mascara. This product gives me life!
4. Simple Cleansin Micellar Water: As you can tell, I also love this product. It is very similar to the Boscia product, but it is a lot cheaper. I definitely love using this to take off my foundation and blush at the end of a very long workday.
5. Que Bella Face Masks: These masks are so nice to use during a bubble bath after a long day. They have a wide variety of masks (from pore minimizing to stress reducing). The masks range from being of clay consistency to a sheet mask to a peel-off mask. They are really great to keep on hand, and you can get them at Target for about $2.

Leave a comment down below letting me know what some of your favorite skin care products are!

Review: Maybelline Color Sensational in Brazen Berry

I have been really wanting a spring berry lip color. I was roaming around the beloved makeup aisle at Target, and I came across this beautiful color.

Maybelline Color Sensational in Brazen Berry
The packaging is so cute! I love how neon and vivid the lid is! It sticks out in my makeup drawer and makes it really easy to find.

This is the first Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick that I have tried. The shade that I chose was Brazen Berry. This lipstick is so creamy and it slides on so smooth and I think this is an awesome lip color!

I think this is a great color for spring. It reminds me of the color of redbud trees! I like that the color is not extremely deep, and that it comes off as more opaque than how it looks in the tube. I like that it looks nice on my lips, and it is a color that I could wear while I am teaching, and it won't look so dramatic.

Do you have this product? What other colors from the Maybelline Color Sensational line would you recommend? Let me know in the comments!

Rodeo Austin + Panic! At The Disco

Hi guys!

I am currently on Spring Break (gotta love being a teacher!).  My mother came down to see where we lived. On Tuesday, Neill's all time favorite band, Panic! At The Disco, played a concert at a rodeo. I am not making this up! The opener for P!ATD was a rodeo show!

I have never been to a rodeo before, but I was surprised by how entertained I was by the whole event! We saw bull riding, wild horse riding, calf roping, and a lot of other things.

After the rodeo was over, the concert was amazing! They played so many great songs, and the auditorium was fairly small, so it felt like a very unique experience. I am so glad that we went, it was truly a great event!

Spring Break!

My mom is in town for spring break! Today, I am going to show her around my new town. We are going to go antique shopping, probably go check out the outlet shops, and go and eat at a cafe that has been featured on the Food Network.
Here is a photo from the walk around my neighborhood. Everything is just so cute!

Here is a picture from earlier in the day, walking around the town square.
We had a fun day. Neill came home from work, and we went and had some Texas BBQ, then came home and watched the movie Frozen. My niece and nephew love that movie, but my mom hasn't seen it yet, so we thought we would introduce it to her.

Hope you all had a wonderful day!

YSL Mascara Volume Effect Faux Cils

Hello, friends!

I am currently on spring break! My mother is currently en route to Texas, and I'm so excited to see her! I decided I would go for a walk this morning, to help me wake up and get ready for the day. During my walk, I went to check my mailbox, and I had this beauty sitting, just waiting for me.

When I first opened it, I was so excited. I've never owned ANYTHING by YSL, and I have always wanted to try it out to see if it is worth the price.

received the YSL Mascara Volume Effect Faux Cils in High Density Black. The packaging is of course very beautiful. It looks so classy thanks to the gold tube. When I took out the wand, I was impressed. It is a simple, yet effective wand. I was surprised that the formula wasn't as wet as most mascaras typically are, and that makes me wonder if this tube will dry out faster than other mascaras.

When I put this mascara on my eyelashes, I only put on one swipe and my eyelashes looked lengthened. I wouldn't necessarily call my eyelashes volumized, but they did long.

Overall, I think that this is a good product, and this is a product I would purchase.

*I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. Thoughts and opinions are my own true beliefs.
